Defeated Sanity Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

We're waiting on our album release, then finally go back to touring.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how it
differs from previous releases?

It's a good mix of our earlier albums, maybe a little more old school
orientated though. I guess we found a good balance between the
technical, brutal and catchy elements of our music.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores
with the new release/

The concept for Passages is an exploration of the "roots of human
atrocity". it takes a spiritual and psychological approach to why people
act how they do and how this is embedded in our 'normal' world.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

It's hard not to be insane in this world, a lot of our lyrics deal with
that.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and
how would you describe your stage performance?

Obviously the bigger festivals are the most exciting for us to play but
sometimes very small shows have been kickass too. Off the top of my
head, Bangcock Deathfest, Death Feast 2010, Mountains of Death 2009 or
the Kopenhagen show on our last Euro Tour with Gorgasm. We always give
110% though.

6. Do you have any touring plans for the future/

Lots. USA, Europe, Russia… hopefully more of Asia and Australia some day.

7. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your newer music by
fans of technical and brutal death metal?

It's been pretty great, getting better constantly.

8. What is going on with the other musical projects these days?

Nothing really, despite occasional session jobs we don't have other
bands going.

9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

Don't know, we'll just let it happen like we always did.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your
newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays/

Definitely influenced by old school death metal more than new stuff, in
recent years we were more and more influenced by prog metal bands like
Watchtower. We listen and take influence from stuff outside of metal as
well.

11. outside of music what are some of your interests?

Next to music and my job there is not much time left… I enjoy bicycle
riding and hanging with my dogs though.

12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Enjoy our new album and make sure you don't miss it being performed
live! Thanks!
